Haligi ng Bata, Inc. (Pillars for the Children, Incorporated) aims to improve the quality of life of needy children and their families. It also promotes the total development of communities where our clientele reside.
HBI was established in the year 1994 by a group of people who would want to help the poor children and families in the Manila, Bulacan and Cavite area. Using their own financial resources, they were able to provide schooling children with their education and health needs. HBI is duly-registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and is registered, accredited, and licensed to operate by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). They are also certified by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) as compliant with general labor standards and occupational safety standards.
Over the years, HBI has expanded their range of social and developmental services. From mere dole-outs, they are now implementing livelihood and capacity building support in certain areas in Metro Manila and La Union. From the meager donation of school supplies, HBI has also included school bags, school uniforms, slippers and schol books in their educational assistance package. HBI has also been conducting capacity building and awareness seminars along the lines of livelihood, health and child’s rights. Aside from this, they have empowered their beneficiaries with various income generating projects.
Now, HBI has project areas in Metro Manila, La Union (Luna, Sudipen and Bangar) and Negros Occidental (Bayanihan-Habitat Homes in Talisay City). Development programs implemented include the Child Sponsorship Program, the Adopt-a-School Program, the Group Sponsorship Program, the Rural Reconstruction Program, and the Vocational School Project. All these is achieved through hard work, the willingness to learn, coordination and through the help and trust of HBI’s foreign partners in service.
